  16.         Extended Find and Replace has been designed with developers
  17.     in mind. This application is vary powerful, but because of this power,
  18.     EFR is very leathal!  Please make sure everything is entered correctly
  19.     before clicking Start!  EFR is unforgiving to human error.  I can not 
  20.     stress this enough.  Please use carfully and use it at your own risk.

  22.         EFR is a mass search and replace utility that will recurse
  23.     sub-directories for compatible files, find the search criteria and
  24.     replace it with the string desired.
  25.  
  26.         With little if any setup time EFR can assist you in replacing
  27.     email address or links or anything else in several different text based
  28.     files in several directories in a matter of seconds.
  29.  
  30.         I have tested EFR on a commercial web site with 464 pages.
  31.     389 pages were edited and 2643 entries were replaced in 8 seconds.
  32.     Results will vary but this was a mid size site with ALOT of links that
  33.     needed to be changed.  What a time saver!

  43. 2.  Using EFR

  46.     Text to search for:    (REQUIRED)
  47.         This is the text (Multi Line / Line breaks OK) that you want to
  48.         be replaced.

  51.     Text to replace with:    (OPTIONAL)
  52.         This is the text that will replace any occurance of the search
  53.         text. (Multi Line / Line breaks OK)  NOTE: If this field is left
  54.         blank, the search text will be CUT and replaced with nothing!

  57.     Replace Options: 
  58.        |--    Search Selected Files Only: 
  59.        |        Only the file selected will be searched.

  61.        |--    Search All Files in Directory:
  62.        |    |    All files in the selected directory will be searched.

  82.        |        the criteria to be replaced.

  85.             THIS IS NOT AN UNDUE!  The Number of changes to a file
  86.             and the path and filename, as well as date and time will
  87.             be logged if this is selected.

  92.         Files Searched:
  93.             This is the total number of files that were scanned.

  95.         Files Changed:
  96.             This is the total number of files modified by the replace.

  98.         Replaced Items:
  99.             This is the Total number of occurances of the search text
  100.             that were found and replaced.

  103.             Click to view the current log if you have loggin enabled.

  107.     Directory / File to search: (REQUIRED):
  108.         This is the path to a starting directory or a complete path and
  109.         file name

  111.     ... (Three Dotted Button):
  112.         Browse button.  IF "Search Selected File Only" is selected, This
  113.         will allow you to browse to a file.  IF "Search All Files In
  114.         Directory" is selected you can only select a path.

  116.     Start:
  117.         Clicking start will iniate the Find and Replace operation.
  118.         DON'T CLICK UNLESS YOU ARE SURE!

  120.         While running if you click "Cancel" (The start button renamed)
  121.         the current replace operation will be canceld.

  123.     Clear:
  124.         Clears the Search Textbox, Replace Textbox, and the Path Textbox.

  126.     Exit:
  127.         Exits the program.

  129.         NOTE: When you exit this app allmost all settings are save and the
  130.         next time you restart all your original settings will return.

  133.     EXTRA:
  134.         Just becuase I thought it was neat and somthing to look at while
  135.         EFR is working,  if you click the ">" button, (Above and to the 
  136.         right of the Search Textbox), you can see EFR loading and searching
  137.         files.  You can click the "<" to close this portion of the app.

  145.     This version of EFR is Shareware.  That means you are free to use it for
  146.     30 Days after which time you can either register it or it will disable itself.
